Outside Court Usage Applications

Want to get together with your friends and neighbors to play a little bocce, shuffleboard, pickleball or any other outside sport on a regular basis?  Did you know you can reserve court time for just your group?
Well, now’s the time to start planning!  Neighborhood / Social groups have the ability to reserve any outdoor court facility for six (6) months at a time.  Interested groups must complete an application.  An approved application is required for use of court time.  Applications for the Spring/Summer session (April 1 – September 30) will be accepted February 15 – 28, 2012 with permits issued by March 21, 2012.

For an application and complete copy of the Outdoor Court Guidelines click here or ask for a copy at any recreation center.  For further information please call your nearest recreation center.

Courtesy Phones at Recreation Facilities

Courtesy phones are available for use by residents and guests in case of an emergency or to reach a Recreation team member.  Courtesy phones are available at all pools and the equipment sheds.  The facility name and address are posted on the wall by the courtesy phone.  For non-emergency issues you can call Community Watch.  Click on the link below for a photo of one of our courtesy phones available for use.

Recreation Department Receives Accreditation

The Recreation Department received its Accreditation from the National Recreation and Parks Association in November!  The two year process was a team effort by recreation staff, District staff and developer.  The NRPA reports that out of the 3,000 departments that are members only 104 are accredited, our department being one of them!  The accreditation process requires an organization to meet 144 standards and host a team sent by NRPA to assure the standards are met. We hosted a team of three members in August.  The team was amazed at the quality of service we provide to the community.
The accreditation process requires agencies to go through a review every five years.  Please click on the link below to read the article from the Daily Sun.

Fall/Winter Swimming Pool Temperatures

The Recreation Department has the oversight and responsibility of the numerous Sports, Family and Neighborhood (Adult) Swimming pools in our community. During the fall - winter pool season (October 1 – March 31), all swimming pools are heated to sustain water temperatures between 81-84 degrees. The water temperatures may fluctuate due to outside weather conditions during the Fall/Winter Season. All temperatures are checked daily. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your recreation team member at the center where the pool is located.
