Improved Signage at Roundabouts – Update 2-21-12
The new green roundabout signs are being installed at designated roundabouts in Sumter County. Sumter County is finalizing the sequence of installation for the other roundabouts. Lake Sumter Line Boat Tours
The Lake Sumter Line Boat Tours are temporarily closed due to the low water level of Lake Sumter. The Boat Tours will resume normal operating hours once the water rises to the necessary level. For more information please call the Recreation Administration Office at 674-1800.
Amnesty Day - Sumter County Solid Waste
Sumter County Public Works will have a mobile collection site for household/business electronics & hazardous waste on Saturday, March 24, 2012, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The mobile collection site will be held at Wildwood High School (parking lot), 700 Huey Street, Wildwood. Status Update – 12-13-11 – Sumter County 20 mph Speed Limit Implementation
Sumter County has installed the peripheral signs at 12 locations around The Villages, which indicates that the speed limit within The Villages is 20 mph unless otherwise posted, and has removed the 50 signs from various locations within The Villages per the plan (table 4), thus making the speed limits on those roads 20 mph by default. Over the next few days Sumter County will install the new signs per tables 2 and 3 in the plan, thus completing implementation of the new Villages Speed limit policy before Christmas.

A Very Important Notice to Residents
The District has been made aware of phone solicitations to residents from unknown callers requesting donations on behalf of District Departments.
District Management would like to stress that the District is not responsible for these solicitations and urge residents NOT to provide any personal or financial information over the telephone.
Sumter County Sheriff’s Office has received all pertinent information regarding the calls and will update District Management as needed. Please visit the District website, www.districtgov.org, for more updates. If you have received similar phone calls please contact Community Watch at 753-0550.
Fall/Winter Swimming Pool Temperatures
The Recreation Department has the oversight and responsibility of the numerous Sports, Family and Neighborhood (Adult) Swimming pools in our community. During the fall - winter pool season (October 1 – March 31), all swimming pools are heated to sustain water temperatures between 81-84 degrees. The water temperatures may fluctuate due to outside weather conditions during the Fall/Winter Season. All temperatures are checked daily. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your recreation team member at the center where the pool is located.
